1. Our Commitment to Privacy

vid.sh does not sell, rent, lease, or otherwise disclose your personal information to third parties. We do not monetize your data. We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, analytics companies, or any other external service.

This is a free service built with the belief that you should be able to edit and share videos without being tracked, profiled, or having your data sold. Your privacy is not a product here.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide the Service:

  • Account information: When you register, we store your email address and a hashed password. Your email is used solely for account authentication and recovery — we never send marketing emails.
  • User Content: Videos and files you upload are stored in order to provide the editing and sharing features of the Service. You control whether your videos are public or private.
  • Usage data: Basic server logs (IP address, request path, timestamp) are temporarily retained for operational purposes like debugging and abuse prevention. These logs are not used for tracking, profiling, or analytics.

3. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used exclusively to operate the Service:

  • Authenticating your account and keeping it secure.
  • Storing and processing your videos for editing, compression, and sharing.
  • Displaying your videos to you and, if public, to others who have the link.
  • Communicating essential service-related information (e.g., password resets).

We do not use your information for any other purpose. We do not analyze your videos, build profiles on you, train machine learning models on your content, or use your data for any purpose beyond delivering the Service.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal data. Period. We do not share your data with third parties except in the following limited circumstances:

  • Legal obligations: If required by law, subpoena, or court order, we may disclose information to comply with legal process.
  • Abuse prevention: We may use information to investigate and prevent violations of our Terms of Service, including the uploading of illegal content.

We do not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The Service has no Facebook pixels, Google Analytics, advertising networks, or similar tracking technologies.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your videos and account data are stored on servers managed by the operator. We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data, including:

  • Passwords are hashed using modern cryptographic algorithms.
  • API endpoints use HTTPS to encrypt data in transit.
  • Access to stored data is restricted to the service operator.

No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Cookies

vid.sh uses only essential cookies necessary for the operation of the Service:

  • Authentication cookies: To keep you signed in between page loads. These are session cookies required for the Service to function.
  • Preference cookies: To remember your settings (e.g., "Remember me" on login). These are optional and only set when you choose to use the feature.

We do not use tracking cookies, third-party cookies, or any form of advertising or analytics cookies.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Delete your account and all associated data at any time through the settings page.
  • Download or delete your videos at any time.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information.

9. Data Retention

We retain your account information and User Content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data — including all videos — will be permanently deleted. Server logs are retained for a limited period (typically 30 days or less) and then automatically purged.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted to this page with an updated date. Material changes will be communicated via the Service. Continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
